Rachel: Photo Diary
Sunny Saturday

I just took this to remind myself later that it can be sunny here in Winter. I took time out today, to stare at the sun. Wonderful. This is what happens in Seattle. The sun comes out in Winter; people stop what they’re doing to marvel.
Tonight, we went to see Slumdog Millionaire in Ballard, after dinner with 9 friends at the Barking Dog Alehouse. Happy 9-year Seattle anniversary to me!

Racheal,
I’m originally from Baton Rouge but now live in Cincinnati, OH. I am 60 years old. I’ve seen a lot, read a lot, and studied a lot. I used to be a photographer like you, by the way, back in the 70′s and 80′s with Hasselblad and Canon F1 film cameras. Now, I just take snapshots.
I wanted to write you and tell you that you are 100% WRONG about Obama. I mean no disrespect, but I’m afraid that when folks like you who want to have some ‘warm and fuzzy’ feeling and emotions get what they think they want, it won’t be very pretty and will be a lot like Marxism and Communism. I know of what I speak because my wife is from the former CCCP (Soviet Union). I know and have seen what has and is happening to this country and how we are actually not as well off today as people were in the 50′s.
Some folks don’t like to confront facts if those facts intrude upon their little warm and fuzzy bubble and ideology. I’m afraid you might be one of these types of people. Just because someone has facts and information that disputes your viewpoint, don’t call them negative naysayers. They just MIGHT be right!
